First, home dopplers. Next up, home ultrasounds. For reals. Highly dangerous invention here...
"This award winning system, cleared by the Food & Drug Administration, brings ultrasound imaging within reach of health care professionals [... AND paranoid scared-to-death pregnant IFers!] everywhere."
I am not sure if this is scary or cool. I love the idea of having access to an inexpensive ultrasound on demand (as it would be really nice to not have to always go to the RE), but I have a bad feeling something like this could have a dark side- mainly health insurance companies will stop covering visits to the RE.
ReplyDeleteWow...wonder how much they cost?
ReplyDeleteOh my. Not good. I'm with skd here ib thinking that they will just dispense the waney and say, "good luck" with a fat bill. Lordy.
ReplyDeleteYikes. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's meant for use in places where real u/s machines aren't feasible...not for crazy people to buy their own...
ReplyDeleteThat thing is definitely not long enough for a vaginal u/s, though. Hmm, I wonder if they make some sort of extension pole for it?
Just in case there's any confusion, I thought I'd better clarify that I don't ACTUALLY think this is a good idea, or even close to being an actual option for preggos right now. But I saw this thing on one of my design blogs, and my imagination couldn't help but run wild! I hear so much controversy in the blogosphere about the dopplers, I can only imagine with something like this.
