This part is for her

I've been inspired by everyone's NIAW "Don't Ignore..." posts this week. And while I'm having a hard time stringing together coherent thoughts these days, I wanted to make my own albeit small contribution.

What I keep thinking about is how the ALI blog community means that none of us are ignored. We all bear witness to each other's pain, struggle, strength and grace through every setback and triumph. I felt ashamed and invisible and utterly alone in my circumstances for years until finally finding you all, and I shudder to think of how much worse off I would be had I not.

So to all of you I dedicate this song. I had never heard it until it happened across my Pan.dora one day last year, and within a few chords I found myself staring at my keyboard, fighting back the tears at work. It just seemed to capture perfectly the desperate pain of failure mixed with the tragic beauty of hope, and the roller coaster ride of emotions through it all. Since then it's been on heavy rotation on my go-to playlist, and each and every time I hear it I think of all of you, the sadness and admiration I feel, and the strength I wish for all of us in this fight.

Greg Laswell, Comes and Goes

This one's for the lonely
The ones that seek and find
Only to be let down
Time after time

This one's for the torn down
The experts at the fall
Come on friends get up now
You're not alone at all

And this part was for her
This part was for her
This part was for her
Does she remember?

It comes and goes in waves, i....

This one's for the faithless
The ones that are surprised
They are only where they are now
Regardless of their fight

This one's for believing
If only for it's sake
Come on friends get up now
Love is to be made

And this part was for her
This part was for her
This part was for her
Does she remember?

It comes and goes in waves,
I am only led to wonder why
It comes and goes in waves
I am only led to wonder why
Why I try

This is for the ones who stand
For the ones who try again
For the ones who need a hand
For the ones who think they can

It comes and goes in waves,
I am only led to wonder why
It comes and goes in waves
I am only led to wonder why
Why I try

  2. What a beautiful song; there are tears streaming down my face as I listen. I recently found your blog after miscarriage #3, and have found comfort in your posts. Thanks for writing. (And, in case you couldn't tell, I can relate to the social isolation you sometimes wrote about, as I am sitting here on a Saturday night reading RPL blogs!)
